Laurence Ewashko to return as judge for Show Tune Showdown

Laurence Ewashko, Artistic Director of Ewashko Singer, is a former conductor of the Vienna Boys’ Choir, and  celebrates his 27th season of choral activity in the National Capital Region. As a choral clinician, vocal coach and adjudicator, he makes a significant contribution to the quality and appreciation of vocal music in Canada and abroad.

Laurence has prepared choruses for many prestigious conductors, including Sir Colin Davis, Trevor Pinnock, Mario Bernardi, Gabriel Chmura and Jane Glover. He regularly prepares choruses for performances at the National Arts Centre conducted by Jack Everly and Pinchas Zukerman. He has also been chorus master and vocal coach for Banff Centre for the Arts summer programs and was the music director of the Cantata Singers for 17 years. He is a recipient of the prestigious Leslie Bell Award for choral conducting.

Currently Associate Professor of Choral Studies at the University of Ottawa, Laurence conducts the School of Music’s two choirs. He has also conducted Opera Lyra Ottawa’s chorus since 1988.
